Other. Wargaming, like most hobbies, attracts some obsessive personalities. Less so, in my experience, than some others.

It attracted me, so obviously it does.

Does "obsessive" mean OCPD? OCD? Does "the hobby" include F&SF? RPG with miniatures? Never clear in the pre-poll discussion. Still not clear. Going with "OCPD" and including F&SF, but drawing the line at RPGs.

Psychology Today lists the top three traits as
--"A preoccupation with order and details that results in the person missing the point of an activity"
--"Perfectionism that hinders the completion of tasks"
--"Devotion to work and productivity to an extent that is excessive and not explained by economic needs"

Yep, that's me and about every Napoleonics player I know, most horse & musket, really, and our frenemies the treadheads. Not so much other miniatures players, and some of the traits further down the list don't cover any of us. ("A reluctance to spend money" for instance. US??)

I've seen worse than us, but you have to remember I was a career NCO, and then spent years in a government bureaucracy. The elite of the hobby are so far around the bend we can't see the bend any more.

Gotta go. Sicilian 1812 gunners on the painting table.

Most gamers I know seem to range closer to having Attention Deficit Disorder.
