Depends on the context of the question. If you are talking about combat from a leadership perspective (which is the role we play as war gamers), than the elements of combat are things like maneuver, surprise, command, etc. I'm sure this is covered in some published manual by the Army under doctrine. If you are talking about the elements of combat on a personal level and how the individual soldier feels about it, than that is an entirely different topic.
