Hey, in this round I don't have to asterix my vote for 'All of the reasons'.* * Don't have to note 'All except that one' as the completely inapplicable 'Many well recorded battles' has finally been voted off. We do have many recorded names of battles though! |

It's more boring than HYW. I should know. I had both with Essex 25mm. But at least Kingmaker could set up scenarios. |

I tracked it back. Martin Goddard of Peter Pig is the one who proposed "many well recorded battles." I have great respect for Peter Pig as a firm, but I wish he'd shown us where those good records were. (I will consult the Lance & Longbow Society once they're up and running again, but I bought every book or pamphlet purporting to be an account of a WotR battle for decades with no satisfactory result.) |

The Facebook group for Never Mind The Billhooks gets periodic postings from various historical society type folks. The postings definitely belie the 'well-documented' notion, but do provide updates on our current best understanding (which typically undoes prior understandings). Recent posting of a link to a paper on Wakefield is a good example: link The group also gets periodic postings of the artwork of Graham Turner, which are very inspiring! link |
