Here's why I call The Sword and the Flame the "best toolbox" rules. I suppose when I first proposed the Poll a year, I should have defined "toolbox." 🤷 Mea culpa. I meant that the basics could have been used over multiple periods. Let's assume that TSATF represents late Victorian British. Anyway, to play AWI or FIW with TSATF, here's what I did. Regular units use British ratings. British, Hessian, French, well trained Continentals, etc. Lesser regulars use Egyptian. Continentals, 1775 British in Boston, inferior Hessians Garridon, etc. Militia, use "shooty" Natives, or degrade Egyptian. For Indians, choose any Native rating. For muskets, use the carbine table. No rifles, except for very rare exceptions. I don't like the Straggler rule, so I ignore it. That's it. The rules stay the same, but with modifications. |

To be considered in a Poll, someone has to nominate it in the original Poll Suggestion thread. Dear Editor has long refused to add things, "just because". Of course, if he had sock puppets, he could. 😄 But I doubt that he does. (I would, if I were him…) |

Dear Editor has long refused to add things, "just because". If something is nominated once the poll has begun, and gets enough seconds, it can be added to later rounds of voting. |
