The 1927 movie "Napoleon" is one of the most amazing films I've ever seen. It's about 5 hours long and only takes the story up to about 1796! A shame Abel Gance didn't make any more of this.

Not my cup of … what did Napoleon drink … wine? … absinthe?

Absinthe wasn't invented yet! He drank champagne ("In victory one deserves it, in defeat one needs it") and of course Courvoisier cognac.

The Emperor's New Clothes is a gem! Absolute gem. It's a crying shame it isn't better known. Ian Holm makes a terrific Nappy! And the script is joyous.

Absinthe was invented in the late 18th century. It was popularized by the Bohemian movement in the late 19th.

@Piper, I,agree with you. It is a delightful little film.

Indeed? Thanks, etotheipi! You are correct, I see, altho' I do expect that Nappy never drank any or even encountered it.

Et merci, Alte Fritz, for the reinforcement! Friend and ally!
