It is all too sad that Warspite and Dreadnaught were not saved and preserved as museums. Never will understand how that could happen.

Just my opinion but Warspite is the battleship to represent not merely the Royal Navy but the entire universe of twentieth century warships armored and equipped for surface warfare.

Two world wars, battleship to battleship combat in two world wars- Jutland and Calibria, the longest range hit with a naval gun on another ship (Calibira v G.Cesare @ 26,000 yards) and I think, fire support at D Day.

That she wasn't preserved was a loss for all peoples who appreciate great ships.

Warspite also provided support for the destroyers at the Second Battle of Narvik.

Indeed a pity that she wasn't preserved.
