Spartacus doesn't show combat well, it shows pre-combat well, the actual battle is just a wild mele. Alexander is the only option here, sure you still have horses that can gallop for an eternity. And the poor Persians are mostly mad runner. But it does show how the actual battle plan of Alexander, it shows phalangites fighting in formations etc. And the arms and armour(at least for the Macedonians) are pretty good. |

I second all of Gunfreak's comments on this topic. I was astounded at the attempt to portray the maneuver and combat in "Alexander." Sadly the general narrative and characterization did not meet the same standard |

I know 'Gladiator' is mostly about individual or small numbers combat, but the initial big battle is very impressive. |

The initial battle in Gladiator was flawed because it did not show why the Romans won battles! It was not a cavalry charge! The battle was just a giant melee. The Rome series did show a cohort fighting in formation with the legionaries rotating and Pullo gets disciplined for breaking formation. In Gladiator there is no Roman formation! |
