I voted "no preference", but I wouldn't want to use d4 or d30 as the main die type. And if we're to roll buckets of dice (and preferably we aren't), make them d6's.

But if we're rolling one or a few at a time, d6's, d8's, d10's, d12s and d20's are all intrinsically fine.

In practice D6, in principle D12.

D6 or D20.

I'm best supplied with D6's and I'd hate to give up my custom ones. But I'm fine with rules which use type of dice as a way to represent unit quality.

Long preferred the D10 (stops rolling much better than a D20 or D12) — the larger spread of results is handier, and ±1 modifiers are a bit more nuanced.

D6.

My first requirement for dice is that they be easy to read. I've sold off dice for being multi-colored and repainted numbers for greater contrast before now. But I'll work with pretty much any shape.

Maybe not D4s in quantity.

As long as the rules us the same type of dice as much as possible. Sometimes it can't be avoided.
