Lots or reasonable choices, and it only runs to "D". This poll will run forever! |

Drat. None of my pet peeves are anywhere near to advancing. I sense a CONSPIRACY! |

What the heck are "bounce sticks?" |
Grattan54 | 04 Feb 2026 10:14 a.m. PST |
Against the latest craze, everything has to be cards based. No!!! |
John the OFM | 04 Feb 2026 11:57 a.m. PST |
Don't get me started on cards that "permit" you to do something perfectly logical. Or do not permit. And the people who put that in their rules are so insufferably smug about how "realistic" it is. 🙄🤷😱 Let's just say that the guy telling me that had a very punchable face. But I stayed civilized. |

What the heck are "bounce sticks?" The reply by The Virtual Armchair General shall explain all, mate. 14th post at TMP link . Some hate them, but they can be useful and easier to use than a casualty table with n variables. |

Why are there TWO virtually identical options for "card based"? Whats the difference??? |
ochoin | 04 Feb 2026 2:20 p.m. PST |
Easy, John. It gives the anti-card brigade TWO chances to bash the mechanism. |
ochoin | 04 Feb 2026 2:23 p.m. PST |
I really like 'bounce sticks' but don't use them. Simply, they are one more mechanism that may be fun but prolong a game. I'd much rather finish a Napoleonic game. |

I'd concede the utility of the bounce stick--but I'd want the rules labelled "Not for use by wargamers under 30." Too many game-stopping arguments over what precisely is under the red portion of the stick. |

I don't even know what "bidding" is, but I'm against it! |

That's the spirit, by gum! |

TBH, most of the "issues" here are nothing but complications that don't really add anything to the game. They aren't "realistic". They do nothing but complicate the game. "If this is the kind of thing you like, you will like this kind of thing." I don't. And when it's "forced" on me, I don't think it's as clever as some seem to think. |

but I'd want the rules labelled "Not for use by wargamers under 30." You know a gamer who's under 30? |
