vagamer63 – well said, that captures MWAN perfectly. I always read the editorial styraight away – just to find out how many hundreds of figures Hal had painted in a month ! Grrrrr…..I hated him (but in a good way !) for his production rate !

Black Gobbo! Awesome e-zine, with great high-rez photographs, cool terrain articles, etc. I still believe GW-US killed it off because giving anything away for free is such antithesis to GW.

I voted MWAN, but wished I had two votes so I could also vote for Savage & Soldier…..

Oh wait, I've got my other identities I can use!

MWAN without a doubt. Seeing it arrive in the mail would actually make my heart skip a little. That has yet to happen again with any other printed publication. Long before the Internet it was my only exposure to the diversities this hobby offers. Homespun, friendly, and informative, it made me the gamer I am today. I have to dig those out although knowing no more are forthcoming makes me hesitate. And yes, Hal is and was a class act.

I went with The Courier, but only because I read it for more years than I did MWAN. Next on my list is The General.

I would vote for the Potomac Wargamer's Review if it made it. Wally managed to get more ideas and content into 20 pages of that magazine. Add his personal writing style that was humorous and flowing and it was a great magazine. Russ had numerous issues up on MagWeb. When guys like Duncan, Jervis, and Hal loved to get it and read it you know it had something to it.
