Johnny Quest was the most unusual kid's cartoon, ever… People died, violently, on that show, pretty much in every episode!

The DVD version available on Amazon, has been duly sanitized, removing all depictions of violence, and death. It was edgy, for me, as a kid, to watch. But, I loved it. If I could buy an unedited, non-sanitized version, showing it as it was originally created, I would buy it… Race Bannon inspired me to pursue Judo, as an adult. It was an amazing journey, studying that Art. I am thankful for the inspiration Race Bannon provided to me. Cheers!

You know, I watched and enjoyed a number of these shows, but we've cast the net pretty wide. If a spy is someone engaged in clandestine intelligence gathering I Spy might be the only qualifier. Plenty of counter-intelligence MI-5/FBI activity--The Avengers and The Wild Wild West, for instance. And Mission Impossible did great clandestine ops, though someone else had already done the intelligence gathering before Jim Phelps was briefed. The Equalizer and the Prisoner were both ex-operatives, but what sort of operatives was mostly left pretty vague. And The Saint was more a random do-gooder on the order of The Lone Ranger.

You might almost suspect that actual espionage is as dull to watch as it is scary to perform. TV mostly doesn't want spies. It wants assassins, saboteurs and really flashy plainclothes police.

The rant is ended. You may go in peace.
