The brushes all get prettier at basing time.

Dozens. I never throw anything away.

More than one. But only two, at the moment, without checking (but some of my "in use" ones are getting fairly ugly …)

John the OFM +1

I have more than 1 since I like to have 1 "ugly brush" of each of the sizes that I use & I might use one's a handle to stir paint.

It's got to be really ugly to get thrown away.

+1 Scott, OFM and Col Durnford!

I am one of the very few, the proud, those who buy disposable brushes for applying glue, and other dirty jobs. I buy a 30-pack of "school paint brushes", from Wal-Mart. They average $0.04 USD/brush! The true, "ugly brushes", get pitched. Cheers!

Like the Sarge I purchase cheap "school" brushes for priming, gluing and other menial tasks.

For sure – reduce, reuse, recycle

Although lately like The Sarge and Skeets I have started using disposable brushes for glue/clean up, etc.

I only throw brushes that are bald or almost
so yes, many uglies, as they say, "never mess with an ugly"

Well now, Ugly is in the eye of the beholder!

I do have a brush with a great personality, though.

Most of the brushes my son has used while he is learning to paint minis.
