Interesting. Of course several are only names to me, but of the ones I'm familiar with, I wonder whether a lot of the voting isn't just for books and series someone liked without much thought for the different requirements of books, television and movies. Not every good book has the makings of a good movie, let alone series TV. I enjoyed the Amber books, but if I had a billion bucks to invest, an Amber series wouldn't be anywhere on the list. And I'd want to see a full script for Lord Kalvan before I spent a dime on anything else. Think how much exposition that one requires, and understanding of science and history to follow necessary discussions.

If someone went old school and did an SF anthology program, Piper's "Six Gun Planet" would make a very nice one-hour episode. Same with maybe three of Laumer's "Bolo" stories. But they aren't movies or entire TV series.

Robert,

Normally I agree with you on most things you post. But I think an Amber series would be great TV. It has sci fi, mystery, action, family intrigue and a Game of Thrones sort of feel with Corwin and the rest trying to become the nest king. If I had a billion bucks I would make it.
