I go 2 or 3 times a year, and it is frequently just to take the kids to the movies.

Averaging two a month or so right now, for the last couple of years. We have a theater just a couple miles down the road that has $6 USD movies on Tuesdays. We get together with my brother-in-law's family and see whatever the big release of the week is. FWIW, Sheep Detectives is a 10.

I saw Godzilla: Minus One in the theatre. Great experience.
Nothing sense has warranted my interest.

The only one I"m likely to see this year is Godzilla Minus Zero (great sequel title!), and likely a couple of times with different movie pals.

Saw G-1 five times =^,^=

Last year, I did see the IMAX anniversary release of Apollo 13, wowzers <3

Last went about 25 years ago. If I burn a flick it's from the comfort of my own couch, not wasting time and money in a theater.

Last one my wife and I went to was the last Indiana Jones flick. For me it was more for tradition as I have seen all of them in theaters.
Other than that, whenever they release Casablanca, or GWTW in theaters for special showings, I also attend.

I'm not sure I've ever seen a film in the cinema, but I do go watch a movie in the local multiplex every now and then. Twice this year--Project Hail Mary and The Sheep Detectives. Last year was Superman, and 2023 was both Guardians of the Galaxy 3 and "Dial of Destiny." I don't think there was a 2024.

I may visit the multiplex again this year. None of the movies look even remotely promising, but they told me last time I can just buy the popcorn and leave without having to buy a ticket. This sounds like a much better deal than sitting through "Avengers: Cast of Thousands, Part One."

AI tells me that cinema…

…is also used synonymously with a "movie theater" or "cinema hall," which is a building or space designed specifically for the public exhibition of films, often featuring large screens and specialized audio systems to enhance the viewing experience.

So the local multiplex is a cinema, Robert. grin

Gosh. I've been to one movie at a cinema since about 2019 and that was a revival showing of Conan the Barbarian. Just to experience it on the big screen again.

They just aren't making films I want to see anymore. Let alone the hassle and expense of buying movie tickets these days.

before that, the last first-run films I went to a theatre for were La La Land, Mary Poppins Returns, First Man, and Gravity. It had become a once every other year sort of thing.

Just went last week. But I can't remember the last time I went before that.
