I'm getting an unusually large one this year. It'll largely go to restoring a financial buffer after some unexpected expenses around the house this winter.

Which in turn will make me more comfortable with blowing money on hobby stuff again …

Advanced Childcare Credits accounted for a considerable chunk of my refund so what I received back in February was positively comical. Either way, it all has gone into the 2022 vacation fund.

As usual, the income tax refund corresponds closely to the property tax bill. The financial buffer, such as it is, is being built up by selling off wargame stuff, but inflation is eroding away its value faster than I can build it up.

On the positive side, I'm unlikely to paint and play with all the wargaming stuff I still have.

Mostly planning to add it to my savings. Economy is not helping my retirement fund.

Goes back into the pot for spending on the usual stuff. It's almost guaranteed that something will break or need to be done so the refund helps with that.

Vacation fund mostly.

My withholding is planned to reduce what I owe to Uncle Sam to as little as possible. I don't believe in getting a tax refund since all I'm doing is loaning Uncle Sam money without him paying me any interest. I'd rather owe some every year and have more to spend and save every month.

Oh you mean my $8 USD…..

Don't forget— your refund means you gave a no-interest loan to the government last year, which they are paying you back at -8.5% interest— yes, that's a minus sign, reflecting the current rate of inflation. Be sure to thank your ever loving Uncle Sam!

No refund for me, thanks.

@Parzival: The word "gave" implies a choice I did not have.

Due to my various masters being good at witholding money for taxes I always get a refund – which this year will be going into our badly needed new roof

90% on booze and women and the rest I will waste. :)

None for us. The Feds and state continues to punish us for not having children.
