I still use smelly enamels (actually, it's the cleaner that really smells) for some applications. If you want really shiny metallic, you can't beat enamels for that.

I still use enamels as well for some specific purposes but for a real shiny metallic I don't think you can beat silvered or gilded bronze powder in linseed oil.
After all that's real metal.. grin

I paint all my figures in enamels. Most Acrylics look too bright.
