I really enjoyed the Military History Museum in Lisbon I have visited it twice. This is where I first learned of the War of Restoration and some of Portugal's colonial wars in the 19th century. |

I stumbled across the Belgium Army Museum by accident in 1976. I have no idea what it's like now, but back then it was the coolest military museum I'd ever been in. Because it wasn't really a museum. It was like an old arsenal someone had forgotten to lock. Almost no labels or explanations of anything. Just random stacks of weapons and armor and uniforms scattered around. I felt as though I could outfit myself and just walk out and no one would stop me :) |
