Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser. With Kristoffer Hivju and Tom Cruise. (Nobody tell Tom that he's supposed to be the short one… 🙄) |

Also agree. Not liking Tom Cruise though. |

Barsoom for me. Ancient drying Mars is home to a thousand stories--Ruritanian adventure and romance, lost cities for satire, and enough McGuffins to provide a thousand Indiana Jonses with fortune and glory. Mind you, if they could find sane scriptwriters and directors and reasonably sane producers, I'd happl watch F&GM. And in the absense of such, all of this is building castles in the air. |

Try to watch Rings of Power to see what "updating for today's audience" means in reality. I'll admit that Critical Drinker and Nerdrotic were my muses on this. My Vergils. 🙄 The same woman who greenlit RoP also cancelled a Conan project for toxic masculinity. She has since been "future endeavored" as the wrestling business when firing an individual. Star Wars? 🙄 So, the relevant phrase here is "if done right". Peter Jackson addressed this issue. He said in interview that nobody felt they had a RIGHT to do LOTR contrary to Tolkien's original viewpoint. Today we have showrunners who have open contempt for source material. My nomination of Tom Cruise was a joke. He refuses to consider himself short. |

We had one Barsoom movie. Sadly the studio decided to kill it so we never got another. Other than leaving the ears off the green Martians, a handy "spot the influence" tell when looking at art work, it was good fun. |
