There has been a film set during the Great Northern War called The Sovereign's Servant (2007).

It's pretty good.

Captain Alatriste: The Spanish Musketeer (2006) starring Viggo Mortensen is set during the Thirty Years War and features the Battle of Rocroi.

As regards the Hundred Years War…er, Henry V (1945) and (1989)?

None of the 'Wars' mentioned!

The Sino-French war would be a great subject. It was lopsided as Hell on water, but on land the French had almost more than they could handle.

In my dreams of being a movie producer, the Pig War is one of the subjects I'd do. It is a great example of a small provocation spiraling out of control to become an internation incident. It has some great characters – would love to see Pickett on screen doing something other than his charge at Gettysburg. It could make a good tale, although some may be dissapointed at the lack of (non-pig) bloodshed.

Some of these have been covered in parts in Movies.

If any of these made the screen the resultant low turnout would put another nail into Historical Movies

Lighten up Toronto48,

No one is (or should be) seriously thinking this is going to be produced, produced decently, or even make money.

This is War Gamer porn basically.

One Man's Hero was set in the Mexican War, centering on the San Patricio Brigade.

Then there's Henry V.

Is there any film about king Alfred of 'England'? What about the muslim conquest of Iberian Peninsula? Maybe the campaigns of Bellisarius? Or the Chinese civil war leading to the Han dinasty rule? All of these are candidates for a series.

Numantia and Alesia sieges, Cannae, Ebre river (in the last Spanish Civil War)… deserve their own film.

For the Thirty Years War, there's also The Last Valley.

Muslim conquest of Spain – El Cid.

Unification of China – Hero!

Humm! El Cid? Nice film, based upon the medieval poem 'El Cantar de mio Cid'. Well, actually, I was referring to the muslim conquest in the early 8th century. Thanks.

Dschebe, there was the 1969 film Alfred the Great which contains the only depiction of the Viking Svinfylking I have seen in a film…

Many thanks. So, I have two more films in my wishlist: Hero! and Alfred the Great.
