I'm sorry.I just have to. I'm opposed because…… What have the Romans ever done for us? |

I voted in favor, so Carthaginians and Visigoths can publicly kick their butts. Volo ut Cartgage Romanos calce calcit. |

But not a Roman Republic board? Seems to me you might want that distinction— Rome has quite the history. |

All further comments need to be in Latin. Omnia commentaria ulteriora Latine scripta esse debent. Romanes ite domun. |

Considering that currently posts on the first page of the Ancients Discussion Message Board goes back a full year and half, I don't see any need to subdivide. It's not hard to scan for past topics now, but splitting it would call for doubling up on some searches to find stuff. |

What is the endpoint of Romanness? Since the citizens who lived in Constantinople considered themselves Romans up until they fell to the Ottoman Turks in 1453, does the board contain them. What we call the Byzantine empire is a term coined by 19th century historians and the "Byzantine" Romans called themselves Romans. Does this proposed Roman Empire board include them? |

As noted, would such a board include the Republic? The Byzantine Empire? It's a lot of overlap if it does. May I suggest a Classical History board instead? Begin with the Thermopalae and Salamis and end with Alaric sacking Rome. This gives you armies and general who knew or knew of each other--a much tighter shot group, if you will. |

I'd like it to include the Roman Republic, too. |

Hint to those who are worried: Ignore what bothers you and post what and where you want. |

The problem isn't the stuff I'm not interested in, the problem is further dispersal of stuff I am interested in. (I'd have no objection if anything in the Rome Empire board was automatically crossposted to the main ancients board, but it won't.) |
