It's a trap: another scale, another four bridges or so. And the terrain-making firms appear to have a pact never to so coordinate their work that the width of the bridges match the roads or the length of the bridges match the rivers In fact, about half the time you'd need to make a custom river segment to accommodate the bridge.

It seems as if, "I don't know, I've never considered counting them before" should be an option.
