I don't refuse to have one, just don't want one.

Facebook is how grandparents keep up with their grandkids.

No reason to have one.

I resisted a long time, but eventually decided it could help my PaperTerrain business and my career as a writer. So now I have one. I try to not waste TOO much time on it :)

I don't refuse to have one.

I don't have one.

Irrational Number Line Games has one, but SWMBO owns the LLC and does all the posting to it.

Refuse? Nope

Have one? Nope – I am far too paranoid

We have a Departmental one that I never visited

I have one on the recommendation of an FBI agent of my acquaintance. He said a page (set to as private as you can make it) is part of a plan to fight identity theft (note, I do not say prevent). Having a page makes it harder for someone to "squat" on your name.

Paranoia? Yes, it can be a good thing.

Yes, I have one. Do I post anything on it – heck no.

The Beast Rampant23 May 2018 11:54 a.m. PST

Yes, I have one. I mostly use it to share pics of my kid with relatives (as Florida Tory said grin), and coordinate getting up with old friends when they're in town.

My wife set it up for me (I was never consulted on the matter). Whatever profile pic I have, she picked. I might have a dozen "friends".

It's useful, but I'm certainly not checking it all the time. Maybe once a day, IF I fire up the desktop. I almost never check it on my phone.

When my eldest kid got married, she told me I needed an account so I could get her wedding photos.

That was years ago. I downloaded every picture people posted. I am rarely ever on. Maybe twice a month. Only if I get an email with a link I can click that takes me to the group I may have joined for info (like 3D printing).

And I only click on the link if the email is enticing enough.

I do NOT post on my page. I never upload photos. I do not use it to keep in touch with friends or relatives.

jefritrout23 May 2018 2:40 p.m. PST

I do not. My wife does. She keeps me informed about what I need to know.

Old Contemptibles23 May 2018 2:41 p.m. PST

I don't refuse to have one, just don't want one.

Isn't that pretty much the same thing?

Old Contemptibles23 May 2018 2:47 p.m. PST

People my age are only on FB because their grand kids sets it up for them. I am not on FB and never will be. I don't want any part of my personal life on FB.

What sealed it for me was the role FB played in the last presidential election and that they sell your personal information. I also do not appreciate the way companies and services assume everyone is on FB.

I don't exactly refuse – it's just I don't have enough time to do all the stuff I want to do already and I don't see Facebook as giving a lot more time so…..

OTHER: not right now. Maybe if I ever had time for it. Never say Never, eh?

Mithmee23 May 2018 3:35 p.m. PST

Yes I will never have one ever.

Isn't it traditional for narcissists to just fall in love with their reflections in ponds?

I have one, but I rarely ever post anything on it. Like Scott, I set mine up as I am a writer, and need to control my name as a presence on Facebook. Otherwise I avoid it as a complete waste of time.

Rallynow

No it isn't. There is a difference between refusing to take part, even if you wanted to, and not considering it worth bothering with as it offers nothing that you want at the moment.

General Kirchner24 May 2018 11:57 a.m. PST

its how i keep in touch with siblings and their families. or seeing what my son in law is wasting his time on.

other than that its a waste of time.

Mithmee24 May 2018 11:50 p.m. PST

Sorry Facebook spies on you so as I stated above never.

COL Scott ret25 May 2018 7:57 p.m. PST

My wife let's me know if there is any thing I need to be informed of

Old Contemptibles28 May 2018 3:09 a.m. PST

GildasFacit,

I don't really see your distinction. But the outcome is just the same.
