I was once confined to a hospital, but at least had a television. ESPN2 was broadcasting a Magic the Gathering tournament, with commentary by a John Madden wannabe. "He turned his entire deck 90 degrees!!!!"
Another time in the hospital (🤔) the night after my operation was the night WWE/WWF bought WCW. Wowsers! Credibility up the wazoo!

So, until they show me that competitive eating is scripted, I will rank broadcast credibility in the following:
Magic the Gathering (Not enough money to interest gambling. Or, is there?)
Competitive eating
NFL
WNBA
WWE

For those who don't know the format – a man goes in a restaurant and tries to win a T-shirt by eating one of:

a huge pile of carbs – say, 4 lbs of fries plus some bread and a pile of meat

a small amount of meat covered in a ridiculously large amount of super hot chili sauce

a huge pile of something possibly also covered in chili sauce, with a ridiculously short timescale

6 lbs of ice cream, with very little time. maybe washed down with a homemade ice-cream-based milkshake… and fries, why not, fries with everything
