This is a very fascinating story and footage from that event! Let's see, 1966: "Boomers" turned 20 that year, The Beatles were at their zenith, mankind was three years away from first setting foot on the moon, etc., etc., etc. I'm sure that, from a modern perspective, most people would say that the "battle" looks nothing more like how it looks on the pitch after a soccer match!

As the article inquires, I personally wonder if anyone from that event would still be around today or even interested in sharing their memories from that day? I, for one, would be more than interested in hearing their stories from it!

thumbs up

How very cool! It sounds like a terrific achievement by an individual and his family and by the hundreds of reenactors.
I stood on the ground 40 years ago and watched a dozen grade-school kids in costume reenacting the battle while a girls' school nearby had a choir singing a hymn in Latin. It was a very moving experience.

I hope it is released to YouTube at some point as I would like to see the film.
