"The most decorated US military unit of its size in history was made up of Japanese American soldiers whose families were stripped of their freedoms and put behind barbed wire back at home.

442 would be a nine-part prestige drama following multiple characters across the Japanese American experience of WWII — from Executive Order 9066 to the end of the war.

These men fought up Italy, scaled Mt. Folgorito by night to break the Gothic Line, lost 800 men in the Vosges saving 211 trapped Texans, and were among the first American troops to encounter the horrors of Dachau.

In the vein of Band of Brothers, The Pacific, and Masters of the Air — with the moral weight of a unit fighting for a country that imprisoned everyone they loved.

As America once again wrestles with the question of who belongs, the 442 story is more vital than ever — a reminder of our ideals, and a warning against repeating mistakes of the past."

Interesting about a little known (to the general American public) Army unit. No information about when and where it will show. And I really doubt any of them screamed "Banzai" when they were charging the Germans.

From the US Army's page on the 442nd: "The 4,000 men, who initially came in April 1943, had to be replaced nearly 3.5 times. In total, about 14,000 men served, ultimately earning 9,486 Purple Hearts, 21 Medals of Honor and an unprecedented eight Presidential Unit Citations."

They trained here in Mississippi at Camp Shelby, neat Hattiesburg in the southern part of the state.

Looks good. Who is going to show/stream it?

Unfortunately that is all they have made. Looking for funding.

Where are Spielberg and Hanks for funding help? They did make a movie about the 442 back in the '50s starring Van Johnson.
