Seeing several threads yesterday about the passing of Lou Zocchi.

Owner of Gamescience, first manufacturer of High Impact dice, author of Avalon Hill Luftwaffe, named on the AH Biltzkreig board!

Always a gentleman, Rest in Peace

He was an asset to the hobby and an interesting guy to talk with. Although not an adventure gamer I met him once and enjoyed our conversation. RIP

After I closed the original Toy Soldier in Newburyport Mass, circa 1990 I went to work in the Wholesale Hobby World. Over the next 15 years I worked for three different Wholesalers, the most well know being Greenfield Hopbbies. I had the chance to meet Lou on a number of occasions at trade shows and open warehouse events. He was always ways pleasant and easy to talk to. I always got a kick out of his "babt rattle" d100. Later he would reprint the complete set of 1944 rules written by Arnold Hendricks of The New England Wargamers Association. These were my first real set of wargame rules. I still have my copy. I had forgotten he was the author of Star Fleet Battles.

Sad to hear. I still use his dice almost exclusively, especially the d6, d10 and d20. RIP.

I remember him at conventions in the early 1980s, with "Woody", doing his ventriloquist act!

Where is Woody today, I wonder?

A life well lived.
