I watched 'Nuremberg' on Stan recently and thought it was excellent.
Crowe nails the lead character!

'Nuremberg' is a gripping historical drama about the post-war trials of Nazi leaders. Russell Crowe is outstanding as Hermann Göring, capturing the arrogance and cunning that made him such a formidable presence during the Nuremberg Trials.

Strong performances and tense courtroom scenes make it both absorbing and thought-provoking. It's well worth a watch IMO if you're interested in WWII history.

I'm so glad this isn't a personal attack. grin

@ 20th Maine – sorry, missed it.

@ Bill. As history shows, my three word description is accurate. As the movie showed, Goering had quite a bit of personal magnetism and charm but ultimately was a Nazi monster. Let's not mince words.

I know a bit about him but I wonder how others feel if the film captured the personality of Hermann Göring well or was it a bit too theatrical & possibly a bit too sympathetic?

No worries – it's a film that is worth mentioning again! I was wrong to think it'd get some Oscar nods – quite surprising to me.

I just saw it a few days ago. Thought it was very well done.
Would liked it if they had spent a bit more time on the other nazis.

I believe Bill was referring to a personal attack on himself. Hopefully, just a self deprecating joke.

If I got that wrong, you'll see me in the doghouse soon.

I was joking that seeing the title of your topic, I was worried it was an attack on some poor TMP member. Or me. LOL

As the movie showed, Goering had quite a bit of personal magnetism and charm but ultimately was a Nazi monster. Let's not mince words.

I'm not defending Goring, even though he's family. grin The husband of my 12th cousin three times removed.

Sorry, I missed the joke Col Durnford is obviously vastly more perceptive than me!

Evidently, everyone on earth is related to Genghis Khan. So we're all related to monsters…. my Cousin Murdoch was a parking inspector to the family's deep shame.

Göring probably cheated at cards too!

I did like how they handled the language issue – the interpreter who "filled in" for the audience's benefit.

Goering's ability to speak English (which was true) also certainly helped.
