At last, a film that will save cinema! I presume we've already got tickets! YouTube link That is the official trailer, despite the segment at ~55 seconds which produced a wry smile…. For balance and fairness – some reviews are a little mixed, and in the UK at least ticket sales are described as "soft". It opens across 100 screens and literally dozens of advance tickets have been sold. Not many dozens…quite a few showings will have an empty room. link |

Hoyts Cinemas in Australia have recorded one advance booking. One. I'm sure they will get a couple more.Maybe?
I don't want to pile on the poor woman (she has enough to bear in her unfortunate life) but the documentary seems to be no better than those awful family events in the past, when you had to sit through hours of Uncle Eddie's excruciating holiday slides of his trip to the industrial areas of the Clyde coast. |

Amazon paid an undisclosed number of $million for the rights to the story, and the budget of $40 USD million+$35million for promotion world wide is something rather anomalous for a documentary. So I doubt she is too upset. It's not as if Amazon is short of money so it is clearly worthwhile to them on some level. Pay to screen is not the normal approach either, cinemas generally want an audience to buy the popcorn and drinks as well as the tickets which is why so many films get very limited or no screenings. |

There was a story in Drudge about a local theater and ticket sales. The premier showing had a grand total of 3 tickets. The novelty of seeing a movie about the only FLOTUS to have ever posed nude isn't compelling me to pay money to go see it. Nor will I be streaming. |

I have also seen reports of no advance ticket sales. Think about it. His approval rating is around 40%. It is a documentary (oh joy) about the First Lady. Yawn. I really don't think this was a great idea for a film. |

Can't be any worse than the new documentary about Charlie 3. |

Proportionally it will be a much bigger bomb – they've spent at least $75 USDmillion on it and I keep reading it is going to take $5 USDmilllion. I suspect that's an optimistic number. |

Apart from the fact it sounds tedious beyond words, the release date (traditionally, January and February have been considered a "bad" or "dead" time) and the political association, is anyone much interested in Melania, the person? Even in the US? AFAIK, even though the Main Man has some welded on support, the 'Imperial Family' are not really sources of interest or entertainment. Even in the US? So, this was always going to be a 'bomb' – one has to speculate exactly why Amazon chose to make it. |

On Rotten Tomatoes it has a score of 6%. |

It has had some dreadful reviews – a common theme is to that it would have been better if it had been about something. |

Started well. Let's see how much it is making in a couple of weeks after the ardent supporters have seen it. It made $8 USD million, just $67 USD Million to go before it starts to see a profit. |

I'm no expert, but I would think the big money would be in streaming. |

First lady Melania Trump's new documentary, "Melania," was panned by critics on Rotten Tomatoes, receiving a 11% approval rating — as of Sunday — despite scoring 99% with the site's "verified audience." Fox News: link |

Lol! 99% – so it's better than Citizen Kane, The magnificent seven and every star wars film. I'm dubious about the veracity of the voting – I wonder how many came out and bought a ticket for the next showing. Did you enjoy it? |
