My older brother wears dental implants now, thanks to a lifetime of using his teeth for not only chewing and grinding his food, but also for cutting twine and string, cracking open nuts, opening bottle tops, and trimming his fingernails. One of his former dentists also found that he tended to grind his teeth while he slept, which may have been a result from his service in Vietnam. Anyway, the dentist who fitted him with his implants a few years ago noticed that he had an "unusually strong" bite. He likened it to the bite of a pit bull! It's a wonder that he hasn't shattered his new teeth, God forbid! |
