The chemical in question is a known byproduct of algae on Earth… and also happens to be a known byproduct of beer bacteria.

So if news of potential life doesn't motivate us to develop interstellar travel, all we have to do is say "It's a beer planet!" and we'll have dudes the world over lining up for the trip.
