No. I AM NOT talking about hip hop, Country, Pop, and so on.
I'm talking about composers who write long complex music.

I got in trouble years ago with a now deceased TMP member who was incensed that I suggested that Mozart would be writing for the movies. Obviously, I disagreed, but naming no names… 🙄

Anyway, I would suggest that the movies are where the Big Bucks are at.

So, might I suggest…
Ennio Morricone for "The Trio" and "Ecstasy of Gold" as fabulous music.
John Williams, for his body of work, from Star Wars, Indiana Jones and so on.

Feel free to disagree, or suggest more.

John Horner (Star Trek II, Aliens and many others!)
Basil Poledouris (Conan, Hunt for Red October)

Agree that Mozart would essentially follow the money. Commissioned compositions for the wealthy were not uncommon!

Mark Mothersbaugh
Started in Devo and never quit composing.
Lots of TV scores
Lots of movies – several for Wes Anderson
And video games
