Hi all,

Any non-Brits ever heard Just a minute or Sorry I haven't a Clue?

How did you find them? Would that format work in your country?

Nope, never heard of either. I don't watch game shows of any type.

I gather they're actually radio shows.

NPR has "Wait, Wait— Don't Tell Me," which takes a similar approach with a celebrity panel quizzed in humorous ways about the week's news. I've occasionally listened to that. It's been running on NPR a long time, but then it's National Public Radio, so whether that's a sign of a viable commercial success or not is anybody's guess.

No. Can't say I have heard of them.

OK. I think it is… different… to what Americans are used too…

Here is a you tube link to one series.

Just A Minute is huge in India apparently. They have a College/University team version of the game (called JAM)

In 2012 the BBC took the show to India for a series:

I can't see why I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue shouldn't work elsewhere either – a mixture of bad puns, whimsy, self-humiliation in the singing rounds and smut. Mostly smut. And the lovely Samantha (and the equally lovely Sven).

They aren't really game shows – there are no prizes, and no-one (since the passing of Kenneth Williams) really cares who wins.

Just A Minute has been running since 1967.

I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue since 1972.

So they must be doing something right….

And who can forget Stephen Fry's classic line (and remember this is broadcast at 6:30 in the evening)

Countryside- to kill Piers Morgan.
