…well, that was confusing…..I guess I should have watched the Ms Marvel TV series, would that have helped?

Having seen the first Captain Marvel film I naively thought a sequel would be at least slightly comprehensible…

…I need to dedicate more of my life to the MCU I guess.

The after credits sequence was tantalising though….Nuff Said! Excelsior!

Having seen the Ms Marvel TV Series, which was pretty good actually, it still was rather confusing. Fun though, and you didn't have to think. Worth Seeing. And the after credits sequence was everything you said.

It is getting slammed in the reviews. One reason is because it is very confusing and assumes a level of knowledge of the movies that many viewers likely don't have.

My son saw it and said seeing "Ms Marvel" on Disney+ was almost a most before seeing "The Marvels." My wife and I haven't seen the movie yet.

I'm used to not getting every nuance if I've skipped a movie or two – I'm sure by the time we got to the last Avengers film there were little nods to earlier plot lines or minor characters who reappeared who I didn't really recognise.

But….personally…I think they overdid it this time. And that's certainly a worry for the future because I'm just not going to see all the TV series.

In the comics they at least used to say "see Ms Marvel Issue 3" rather than assuming you bought every issue of every comic.

My wife hit the nail on the head, by saying it would have made a great 6 episode TV series. There was just too much in the movie.

Also, that is why they played Ms Marvel on regular Network TV a couple of months back, so that more then just those streaming Disney could get the back story for the movie. And no, they didn't advertise that much, which was a mistake.

My experience is that the TV series have been better than the movies for some time. "Hawkeye" and "Moon Knight" were superb, with "Loki", "Ms. Marvel", and "FatWS" being enjoyable. The moves, OTOH, have been pretty dire since "Endgame" and "No Way Home". I enjoyed "Black Widow" because Florence Pugh, but everything else has been a chore.

I think most of the complaints on the Internet are negative buzz from fanboy misogynist trolls. These insufferable brats particularly dislike actress Brie Larson, and generally bring the hate for any productions with female leads, or a female director. I'll also note the film contains many characters from non-white demographic groups (not counting the aliens). The film as well has a short, hilarious, singing scene. So, no positives for stay-at-home hate-everything fanboy brats.

Nevertheless the Rotten Tomatoes Audience rating is 83%, pretty high. Critics rating is middling, 61%.

"The Marvels" does wrap up storylines from "Captain Marvel", "Ms. Marvel", and the series "Wandavision", and also the post-credits scene from "Spider-Man: Far From Home". Other characters from "Captain Marvel" were resolved in the series "Secret Invasion". Oh and the post-credits scene is a callback to the X-Men films and a scene from "Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness". If you have not seen all of those you will be accepting the film's own exposition for some of the background.

My wife and I both saw it and enjoyed it. I am a Marvel comics fan since the 70s who retains detailed story knowledge. My wife however can never remember what happened in a show or movie from the past.

Anyway, if you are interested in Marvel movies, I recommend seeing "The Marvels" in the theater while you still can.

The film itself was absolutely fine from point of look, acting and general daring-do – it just became very clear to me that the MCU has reached the point where if you aren't saturated with all the streams then a lot of it won't make much sense – the quote you give would seem to concur with that.

I'm not sure that's a good thing for a viewer like myself (doesn't follow all the TV series – heck I only watched ~2 seasons of Agents of Shield, and has seen maybe 80% of the films.), and I wonder what it's like for someone who is even less involved with the multi-faceted franchise.

Oh, and misogynist fanboy trolls can go and….just go really, 'cos they're boring.
