Saw Oppenheimer last weekend. A bit long, but quite good, I thought. The history is pretty accurate, and the acting as good as you'd expect from a cast like this. I really want to see it on TV where I can get subtitles. There was a lot of mumbling and quiet talk that was hard to follow. Except for Matt Damon! Every word as crisp and distinct as you could ever want. :) It is rated R for several sex scenes (which rather surprised me) but the language was actually quite mild. Recommended.

Apparently the Hindus are upset over Oppenheimer reading their sacred book after sex…

It's a pretty good film, didn't feel too long as there's a lot to fit in. Was slightly disappointed not to have had more of Feynman. Robert Downey Jr is good – I didn't realise it was him until the credits!!

One thing I noticed was that Oppenheimer was incapable of growing facial hair…he could be up all night and not a touch of stubble.

One of the sex scenes seemed a bit heavy handed, obviously I knew what the director was trying to convey but it wasn't done well IMHO. If you have seen the film you can probably guess which one I am thinking of.

I've read several bio's of Opp. Have therefore little
interest in the film.

During, actually. Swap that with the Koran, or the Torah, or the Bible and you can understand why they're p-o'ed. Appalling choice by the director, and I suspect entirely fabricated.

Very little respect for religion anywhere anymore.

Probably going against the crowd here, but, an average film with a heavy dose of revisionist history and a strong political bias. Always nice when the mistress of your lead scientist is a KGB agent.

I didn't realize Gary Oldman played Truman! Only had about two minutes of screen time, but he was great as always. The man is a shape-shifter!
