Reading that Threads has picked up sign-ups in just a couple of days that are equivalent to about 20% of the Twitter user accounts.

That initial rush might slow down (probably will) but is Twitter about to become the new MySpace? Or will Musk turn it around?

Seems like he could if he would just stop his campaign of trying to annoy as many Twitter users as he possibly can…

….I can't really understand what his strategy is – what he has done with Twitter is a bit like buying pepsi and then deciding that what it really needs is to be made turnip flavoured.

I have looked at Twitter three times in five years. I just spent ten minutes there and feel pretty despondent. Maybe it's okay if it dies. Maybe Elon Musk is a super genius and something wonderful will spring from the ashes, but if so I will be among the many surprised.

I don't think it matters.

I can't agree with Twitter's privacy policy so never joined. But I do miss seeing Twitter posts now.

Is Threads the answer? Meta? Mark Zuckerburg?

Shoshana Zuboff, a privacy expert at Harvard, said, "Threads is simply another property in a global surveillance empire."

With regard to some 'expert' from a college I never attended, since I don't share stuff I'd worry about being surveilled posting, I'm not against Threads as an institution. I just don't want to post to that kind of Twitter-like site. I only do social media for snark and images.

Looks like threads is starting its' slow decline into oblivion, while Twitter usage remains constant:
