Here in Wisconsin, we are blessed with tons of great traditional German (and Swiss, and Scandinavian) food choices! Pork, beer, ale, sausage, roesti, schnitzel, you name it. Alles ist gut! (or something like that) |

We live about 90 miles from Frankenmuth Michigan which has a Bavarian heritage & good German/Bavarian food is available even though it is known for it's fried chicken. |

I remember the first Christmas I spent with my in-laws in Germany. Dinner was goose, all the trimmings, heavy gravy and dumplings. About 30 minutes after we had eaten all the fat and stodge just expanded in my stomach and I ended up going to bed for a few hours. Absolutely wiped me out. Many happy memories of other meals though! |
