Killed by his creator…..

Adams confirmed that his once popular cartoon was being dropped, and he said he expected that to happen : "My reputation for the rest of my life is destroyed. You can't come back from this."

I was going to get rid of the old Dilbert books, since you can always read the comics online. Now I might want to scrape all the cartoons on to a hard drive somewhere, since they might go down the memory hole.

Every person, and he's not dumb, should know you need to Bleeped text. Apparently the acronym is bleeped 🤬

He is 65 so perhaps he was ready to retire and didn't want the comic to continue without him..

"Dilbert" has always been one of my favorite comic strips because it so accurately portrayed institutional (corporate, educational and governmental) situations. I was not aware of Adams' racial attitudes but I shall still miss the strip.

Guess I need to go out and pickup a couple of more Dilbert books. grin

I found the comic strip entertaining, but the animated series was not very funny.

The strip was funny, although I haven't really kept up with it since my last desktop calendar of strips ran out around 2002ish.

The animated version was dire, which is probably the real reason it got canned despite what Mr Adams seems to believe.

Many years ago, as an IT Consultant, I learned the "Dilbert Quotient." During the obligatory tour of the office, pay attention to how many Dilbert comics are on the cubes. If there are a lot (high DQ) it's a toxic environment and don't take the assignment.

There won't be any comics in cubes and more.

Dilbert was a favorite of many of my IBM colleagues and
of me, since Dilbert reflected, oh so accurately, many
of the foibles of Corporate life…

It certainly did – and it only really occurred to me following this news that I hadn't seen or read any of them in years. Possibly due to the themes starting to repeat themselves. But definitely in the early years it was avidly read by a lot of cubicle dwellers.

Yes.."Dilbert" very accurately reflected corporate culture…govt culture too…a really excellent evisceration. Having said that..Adam's has been a rabid racist for a longtime..he just kept it under wraps somewhat….until lately. He is a major Bleeped text and is solely responsible for his own reputation's demise. Good riddance I say.
