It's the time of year when those of us in offices navigate the minefield that is Secret Santa (makes me long for lockdowns). I've always had questions about it.

1). If the monetary target is $40 USD minimum, this is now also the maximum right? No sense in you spending $60 USD in return for a $40 USD POS.

2) If you find an item for $40 USD MSRP marked down to $19.99 USD, this is still a $40 USD item, right?

3) No gift stealing, it leads to hard feelings.

4) White Elephant, we all know this is a junk exchange. I keep a few things around for regifting.

Glad to be retired and no longer involved with
these sorts of things.

Hope you navigate successfully

Never dealt with that at any office. I have dealt with Secret Santa and Victorian Gift Exchange (two very different things) in various volunteer groups. Not a fan.

Recommendations:

* A squad of 40K Space Marines … who doesn't want that?

* If the local HS sells a video of their musical or concerts and invite the giftee to share it with the office.

* Some God-awful cubicle decoration chachkas (note: they are all God-Awful)

* Exotic canned food for their holiday meal like haggis, borshch, or Hákarl

* A nice copy of War and Peace. It's a great book, but the odds that someone who wants to read it doesn't have it already are extremely low.

* A rock and water effect terrain kit

* $40 USD worth of designer glitter

… OK … a real one:

* a bottle of cinnamon schnapps and a a bottle of peppermint schnapps so they can Ragnarok in the new year!

I got a nice book once. The HR department bought a few books knowing some people would flake out.

A squad of 40K Space Marines … He said the limit was $40. USD grin

We have fun with the White Elephant exchange. Lots of alcohol changes hands.
