There's some evidence that immersive, action-oriented videogames are useful as distractions from pain. |

It's not particularly news. The one issue with the study is that as a meta-analysis, it collects a lot of different things together, so the ups and downs get washed out. That is, however, what a meta analysis does. There are some types of pain (mostly neuropathic) where THC is reasonably effective. Marijuana (smoking a joint) is not a stable enough treatment to legitimately compare. When you factor in the deleterious health effects, it would have to be more effective than any known pain relief medication to be worth the risk. link |

I keep hearing good things about these placebos. They seem to work for everything, but my doctor says she can't prescribe them for me. I may have to make my own. |

I knew alcohol was better. That stuff will stop pain but it tends to be habit forming. |

The whole concept of medical marijuana was the camel under the tent to get it legalized. It had nothing to do with it actually working. As far as I'm concerned, until I see something from a reputable study saying otherwise, CBD is as effective as snake oil. |

CBD is, in fact, as effective as snake oil. That's why you can get it without a prescription. It's effects are purely from the mystique of the oil, not any properties. Peppermint herbal tea might help you with headaches. Or it might not. Most likely it will sometimes under some conditions. Those may be frequent or infrequent for you. Rubbing bear scat on your muscles might relax them somewhat under certain conditions. So might CBD oil. The whole concept of medical marijuana is also snake oil. If you actually read the studies (which do show medicinal benefits), you will see why. |

Medical MJ is the stalking horse for full legalization of marijuana. Because we don't have enough people on drugs now. In CA they made marijuana legal with a prescription. So you go to the doctor and he says do you have trouble sleeping? Yes? Medical marijuana for you. Do you fall asleep all the time? Yes? Medical marijuana for you. It cures everything because it cures nothing. They told the voters it was because grandma could not eat anything due to her cancer treatments and needed to smoke it. So rather than make medical marijuana legal for old people who have cancer, they make it a lawful treatment for every slacker who wants to spend the day getting high. Mike Bunkermeister Creek |
