Passed away today at age 66.
He provided the voice for Batman/Bruce Wayne in the classic ‘90s Batman Animated Series (which actually had no title! The image of Batman was enough…)
His Batman was spot on perfect— intelligent, imposing, and just a little obsessed. None of that over-done gravel voice. Just firm and believable.
But as Bruce Wayne, the voice did not sound like Batman. Still intelligent and even impressive, but with a lighter lilt that completely worked to separate the two parts of Wayne's life in a way that could believably explain why no one who met Batman would associate his voice with Wayne.
I consider his Batman the best of both TV and film (setting aside Adam West, whose portrayal was comic genius).
RIP, Mr. Conroy, and thank you!

Wow…way too young. That was my favorite cartoon of all time. I agree with your summary of his work. Rest in Peace good sir.
