Does anyone know if All l Ron Hubbard books are trying to get you into something other than just reading Sci Fi/ pulp novels?

Wouldn't his early books be pre-Dianetics/Scientology? I read Battlefield Earth. thought it not as bad as everyone said, but quite long. Didn't notice any brainwashing.

Thanks Bill, my dept. got a shipment of free books for some reason most of these look like his old work and short stories from others, so I think they will be ok.
