The funniest thing is the person saying "don't change the past".

Only the name "Ploughman's Lunch" dates to around 1960, and was more or less invented by the Cheese Marketing Board to promote the greater consumption of cheese….

And if you look back at English Folksong you're much more likely to encounter ploughBOYS….who seem to eat a hearty breakfast (with something stuffed in their pockets for the day) and a hearty meal at night but don't really stop for lunch anyway.

Having grown up eating many ‘a ploughman's' in various pubs, I can say that it may involve bread but it ain't a sandwich.

The bread comes as a big crusty chunk which you can tear up or just bite lumps off!

I bet the landlord of that pub is pleased with the free publicity…
