Got this integrated amplifier back when I was first married, and it's gone wonky. Produces distortion and crackling static in both headphones and speakers, regardless of input source.
After much searching for a solution, I found the only Denon service supplier in the South— in Suwanee, Georgia. They can take a look at it for $70 USD, but if they can repair it that will count towards the repair… whatever that cost might be.

So, worth the risk of the repair and associated costs, or dump the thing as a boat anchor in favor of something new?

in this day and age it is probably cheaper to replace (more features? better quality?)

It's only worth the repair if you can do it yourself and enjoy doing such things. Per Saber6, it is likely fiscally cheaper and less time delay to buy a new one.

Based on some online advice I have cracked open the case.
The interior is quite dusty, so I'll be cleaning it.

Everything looks good, except for four very large capacitors labeled "56v5600µF(M)".
These have a dried light brown "foamy" substance on the board near their bases, which leads me to assume they are probably bad.

Anybody know if that is the case, and if so, how I might go about removing and replacing the same? (Also where I might find them?)
