Why do some of you do this?

Thread title about Subject X.

There are often posts saying "I know nothing of 'x'"

Why? Why do you feel the need to post that?

There is a thread at the moment about a rule set, one post says "I have never played them", another says "I have never heard of them".

That's it. That is all they posted.

Why do these people feel the need to tell us this? Do you walk I to a shop, immediately find a member of staff, say "I am not interested in any of your products", then walk out?

Nobody has forced you to post. In fact from the title you knew you had nothing to add, yet you still clicked the link, scrolled down, and then posted an entirely vacuous comment.

For the love of all humanity, why?

I don't know anything about why people would do that.

Where's the list implied by the title?

That's actually a choice in Today's Poll about Team Yankee.
And I responded that I've never played it.

actually you can specify that your not intrested in "y", just "x". And someone will say try "Y".

In business meetings, I call this "verbal masturbation". Someone who has nothing to add but just has to speak up in order to hear their own voice.

I like sliced gruel! Wait, can gruel be sliced? I have never played gruel.

Not saying anything. Wait a second, is not saying anything really saying something? Is that too cerebral for this post? Now I need a Tylenol for my migraine. Is this insipid or vapid?
