It dates back to at least the mid-1800s when US Presbyterian minister Sylvester Graham claimed that people would never become ill if they only ate uncooked foods. Shagnasty -- cooking steaks and burgers is optional. Of course, you may get worms or food poisoning. But its a free country – the choice is yours.

We have been cooking food for hundreds of thousands of years for a reason. It makes so many more nutrients available that humans have survived in all kinds of environments. Thus raw food diets have a marvelous benefit: they inevitably lead to weight loss.
