… Changes to Mongolia's Climate

"A review of weather patterns in inner East Asia over the past 260 years suggests the region is currently caught in a dangerous cycle of heatwaves and droughts that could forever reshape the area, and possibly turn the Mongolian Plateau into an arid wasteland.

New research published today in Science is painting an alarming picture of the current climate situation in inner East Asia. Contemporaneous heatwaves and droughts in the region are happening more often now than they did 20 years ago, but as the new study points out, the current climate situation in the region has no precedent over the past 260 years. The authors of the new paper reached this conclusion after analyzing tree-rings, which document droughts and heatwaves dating back to the mid-18th century…"

More scientific evidence climate "change" is natural and not caused by man-made inventions.

Fitting the evidence to your preconceived conclusions I see. None of this disproves global warming/climate change in the least, and the article does point out that warmer climates in the future (caused by anthropogenic sources) will make it worse.

Anyone can make a prediction about the future. Reality is something completely different.

No!!! The article clearly states exactly the OPPOSITE of what you wrote, wmyers. The article clearly states that the phenomenon is due to man-made climate change. To quote from the article:

"The current problem has to do with excessive soil drying. Well, technically the problem has to do with anthropogenic climate change, but you know what I mean."

So, wmyers, either you had not read the sentence I quoted – which means you didn't read the article thoroughly – or you had read the sentence but didn't know what the word "anthropogenic" means.

And, if you click on the link in the "earther.gizmodo.com" article to the research published in Science, you'll see the following:

"How anthropogenically driven climate change is affecting heat waves and drought is one of the most important environmental issues facing societies around the globe. Zhang et al. present a 260-year-long record of temperature and soil moisture over inner East Asia that reveals an abrupt shift to hotter and drier conditions (see the Perspective by Zhang and Fang)."

(Science, "Abrupt shift to hotter and drier climate over inner East Asia beyond the tipping point", Zhang et al.)

So, the scientific evidence is that this phenomenon is being caused by anthropogenically driven, i.e., MAN-MADE, climate change.
