Not to flog a dead horse but Here is a screen clip of the Pirbright Institute's 2015 European patent application for the Coronavirus.

I'm wondering why they would try to patent a virus and not a vaccine but the patent states "Manipulation of the infectious bronchitis coronavirus genome for vaccine development and analysis of the accessory proteins."

"The present invention relates to an attenuated coronavirus comprising a variant replicase gene, which causes the virus to have reduced pathogenicity. The present invention also relates to the use of such a coronavirus in a vaccine to prevent and/or treat a disease."

The patent application was granted November 11th 2019 right before Wuhan launched it.

I don't personally agree with end result, but the patenting of lab techniques is an established fact and derives from the precedent set in programming copyright Deleted by Moderator

For example, the UC system hold the patent on the CrisperCas9 gene editing technique after a long court battle in the US and Europe, and thus gets royalties from every commercial lab that uses it (although they're allowing non-commerical labs to use it royalty free.

Now that the patenting lab techniques is established, this particular technique has nothing to do with the current corona virus outbreak, and might actually help solve it by allowing for laboratory manipulation to attenuate the virus (make it weaker), a useful ingredient for vaccines.

Furthermore, the opensource Nextstrain project nextstrain.org has mapped the genome of thousands of infected patients and found zero evidence of human genetic engineering in the virus. In addition, prior to the outbreak, many virologists that study corona viruses would not have guess that the shape of the spike protein would be very effective for infecting human cells, but it turns out that random chance rolled a yahtzee in that it worked quite well.

That Pirbright Institute patent refers to an entirely different corona virus that only affects poultry. It's some sort of agricultural research…

Yep, it's A Coronavirus, not THE Coronavirus (you know, the one THEY are exploiting to create unnecessary FEAR).

Ah yes, the mysterious THEY who apparently are in control everywhere no matter what political system exists in a country and the political beliefs of the government…..
