Marie Fredriksson the singer with the band Roxette has passed away aged 61 after a long battle with cancer.

The Swedish star achieved global success in the late 80s & through the 90s with hits like Joyride, The Look, Dressed for Success, Listen to Your Heart and It Must Have Been Love, from the film Pretty Woman.

Great voice fronting some great pop tunes, with her trademark biker jacket and spiky blond hair she was a distinctive image of the period.

Had some great nights dancing to those numbers!

Big loss for the music world, I know many who had great memories and connection to Roxette.
But I don't think it was cancer, I've only ever read it as brain tumour not brain cancer, but it might have been.
She was diagnosed back in 2002. But did a little touring in the mid 2010s. During her last tour in 2015, she had to sit during the concerts.

As a long-time fan of Roxette, I played several of their CD's while filling ship orders today.

Sad to hear. She had a striking voice and appearance. RIP

I read in an interview that while she had received successful treatment it left her with serious health issues, she lost sight in eye, hearing loss, memory loss, diminished motor skills, aphasia and a host of other problems. She was able to overcome some of them but it continued to affect her and undermined her health.

I found it hard not to like Roxette, they had a good punky pop rock sound

RIP
