I seem to remember the Caribs called it "long pork" but I have no interest in ever finding out.

The cannibals in the Philippines called it "long pig" according to a friend who evade capture (for a while) by the Japanese in 1941 by hiding with the tribes. He said they had eaten one of their comrades unknowingly he said it was "sweet meat". He passed away years ago but I still remember his stories about prison camp. He was 67 pounds when liberated in 1945. Vowed never to sleep on the ground again or eat rice. He kept both promises AFAIK. RIP James H. Glass US Army.
