Well that result was emphatic….thought England had it in the bag after day 2, but some crazy batting today stuffed things completely. |

One of the great Test matches, I think. England were essentially outplayed on 4 of the 5 days. And it seems as if Anderson is hors d'combat. Clearly, the series isn't over but if things continue along these lines, it will be a very satisfying Ashes tour. |

It was a true Test thats for sure. I think having Australia 8/122 in the first dig and against the wall early in the 2nd but not delivering the knockout was the key, lacking a bowler didn't help but that is the game. What did detract was the umpiring. I'm happy enough when Umpires make a couple of errors a game; goodness knows the speed of the ball, and the number of things to watch makes it inevitable, but some of the decisions reviewed were howlers…. I think the true measure will be at Lords. If Australia don't win there (lose or draw) and Archer does well, then it will be a close series. If it goes to 2-0, I think England will not have the ability to win 3 tests to reclaim the Urn. |
